I have taken over the moderation reigns for camdancewithme
I don't expect to have to do anything except remove spam.
We have so little traffic that some of you may have forgotten that you friended us, so here is a reminder of what this community is:
A community for dancers in Cambridge, UK. All dance styles are catered to: ballroom, Latin, ceilidh, bellydance, jazz, ballet, tap, whatever! CDC members are welcome but the community is not by any means exclusive. Feel free to chat, plug events, organise meetups or trips and so on. Talent not necessary, beginners and owners of two left feet welcome!
Thanks to lark_ascending
for getting us this far.

Mod retiring, volunteer wanted
As you may know if you read my LJ, I'm making some dramatic changes in the way I use Livejournal, and I would like as part of that to pass on the moderator's hat to someone else in this community. If you'd like to take over, please comment; if nobody volunteers within a few days, I'll assume the community has jumped the shark and just delete it instead.

If anyone is interested there is a Cuban Salsa/ Rueda party next weekend at Newmarket.
Comment if you would like further details.

Quick update from your mod...
Just a quick post to let you know I haven't completely forgotten about this community. I've taken the opportunity to include a few more styles of dance on our profile; I'm also going to post a plug to a few local interest communities and see if we can't scare up a few new members...

CDC dinner dance - Friday 21 October
In case you've managed to miss the announcements and would like to go to a nice social dancing event with good food, we're running a dinner dance a week on Friday at Wolfson College. Dinner (7 for 7.30pm) will be followed by dancing in the Lee Hall until 11pm. The menu is (provisionally):
Starter: Grilled goat's cheese and mixed leaf salad
Main: Breast of pheasant, apples and chestnuts
Veggie option: Vegetable and nut strudel with tomato and tarragon sauce
Dessert: Chocolate and orange truffle cake
Tickets cost £25 (not including wine, so bring your own if you want to drink), and are available from the intermediates classes, dancesport classes and GD, or by e-mailing email@example.com.
We need to know numbers by early next week, so please let me know if you're interested!

I will go to GD this friday. If there is one and I can find it :-)

OK, the last suggested time it was rather nixed by clashing with the Round's Ceilidh (sorry, Vicky :)).
Which camdancewithmers want to make this friday GD friday? :) Calling everyone who hasn't danced for ages, or who only goes sometimes, or always finds no-one they know, or feel they'd like the exercise, or practice, or who go every week anyway so can ignore this :)
Apparently ball tickets go on sale then too, which1
will be held in the much much more convenient, but smaller, location of the guild hall.
I know my antecedant isn't exactly existant, but you know what I mean :)

Hello everyone from an ex CDC member in sunny Oxford!
Are the tickets for the CDC ball out yet?

, Friday 18th February (this Friday) 8pm
I should be there, although a little late.
Also, it's IVFDF
in a week and a bit, Friday 25th - Sunday 27th February, and this year it's only in Norwich! (Of course, next year it's only in Cambridge...)
The evening stuff on Friday is said to be starting at 8, so I'll probably aim to leave after work, but leaving work early (5ish) I could still give two people a lift, so if you're wondering about it, but would want to go with a friendly face, do shout. And it's incredably good value for money.
